CHAMPAGNE JAILLANT & CO
THE VINEYARD & ITS HISTORY
Located in the Aube, in the southern part of the Champagne region, the Montgueux vineyard stretches across a hillside rising to 270 metres above sea level. Vines are believed to have been cultivated here since Gallo-Roman times, with historical records mentioning vineyards as early as 1161. On 22 July 1927, the Montgueux vineyard officially became part of the Champagne Appellation, following a decision by the French Ministry of Agriculture.
A REMARKABLE HILLSIDE
SOUTH-EAST-FACING
Covering 215 hectares, the Montgueux vineyard is established on a hill resting upon nearly 150 metres of Turonian chalk (Upper Cretaceous). This exceptional chalk subsoil provides the vines with a natural and consistent water supply while contributing to the distinctive character of the wines.

Chardonnay is the dominant grape variety, complemented by Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.

Today, Montgueux is increasingly recognised by wine journalists and specialists as "one of the Aube's hidden gems", celebrated for the quality and elegance of its Champagnes.
THE JAILLANT & CO VINEYARD
Grower, Producer & Champagne House
Our vineyard extends across the entire hillside, also known as the Côte de Champagne, covering 7.5 hectares divided into around ten carefully managed vineyard plots.

Its south to south-east exposure ensures optimal sunshine throughout the growing season, allowing the grapes to reach perfect ripeness.

Committed to sustainable vineyard management, one-third of our vineyard is permanently grassed, helping us preserve healthy soils and carefully manage vineyard cultivation while respecting the natural environment.
